Friday Favorites

I’m taking a class right now that emphasizes finding dramatic, beautiful light in everyday situations, and it’s amazing how, when you start looking, you can find this light anywhere. This is a shot of Peanut, our cat, hanging out on the window sill… a totally everyday occurrence. By harnessing the light, though, this portrait turns our ordinary housecat into a noble, fierce predator (which really couldn’t be further from the truth).

The word photography is derived from the Greek for “drawing with light” – such an beautiful name! It is an amazing thing to be able to use light to make the unremarkable remarkable; the mundane exotic.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

kate - I really like this photo!
