Bad Lighting: what it is, and how to correct it | Chapel Hill Photographer

Today I thought I’d tackle another reader question from my Facebook query a little while ago. This one’s from Ali (Thanks Ali! Starbucks GC coming your way!): Q: Is there an idiot-proof way to make photos come out decent when you’re stuck in really bad lighting (low-lighting, flourescents, etc.)? A: First off, I wanted to take…

Erin - See, you make it all look so easy but it’s posts like these that make me realise all the skill and thought that goes into getting those amazing shots!

Joda - Informative post. You are amazing for all the information you so lucidly convey. Thank you.

wander & scrawl - Great ideas and excellent info as always, Annemie! I just love your blog so much! You’re always sharing useful information and such beautiful thoughts, photographs and sentiments. Sometimes it’s just that little bit of advice that makes the difference between snapshots and family heirlooms. It’s my hope that people take these tips to heart and share them with friends so we can all preserve our digital memories into more lasting, tangible objects to share with other generations. It’s only a matter of time before the term JPG is extinct, but a beautiful photograph mounted on archival matting can be treasured forever. Thanks again!

Rachel - Thanks Annemie, for the great advice! This will make holiday gifts a lot easier to navigate this year. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions–I hope the post helps others too–though I was sad to hear you didn’t recommend lapel pins, as I have an order for 500 in to the button maker as we speak! That’s all you wanted for Christmas, right? ;o)
