Color me Cupid | Chapel Hill Portrait Photographer

I was finishing up editing a recent maternity session yesterday when suddenly it occurred to me: we’re less than a month away from Valentine’s Day! Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day carries a lot of weight in the American psyche, and if you’re a husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, partner, etc., there’s probably some expectation…

Joda - Yowza is right! Sign me up. The photo of the woman in the water is simply spectacular. Great subject, composition, focus, colors. Truly a winning photo.

Written & Illustrated (Part II)

The day I found out I was pregnant for the first time, I went to the store and bought a journal… a blank book seemed an appropriate way to honor a new life. Over the course of my pregnancy, I filled that journal with little letters to my growing belly, and by the time that…

Jenn - Annemie what an amazing, unique idea! I can’t wait to find someone to do this with you!

Rachel - This is a wonderful idea, Annemie! I wish I had something amazing happening right now so I could volunteer myself! But alas, we’re all out of momentous occasions for the moment…but I’ll add this to my list of things that might inspire one!

Clara - Yes! Perfecto! It is what we, close friends, family, clients and blog followers were enjoying so much, even when we didn’t personally meet the owners of your beautiful stories. You are not only talented capturing images, you are telling gorgeous stories when also putting in words the moments shared with them!
Congrats for such a great idea!

Kelli - I love it! Such a unique and thoughtful idea. Now if I could just get married again…

Bert - Great idea. Your photos and your writing will make any customer thrilled, I’m sure.

kate - A great idea! Your way with words together with the way you frame your shots will be the perfect capture of a life’s moment.

annemie - Thanks, everyone! I’m excited about it, and itching to get started :D I want to be clear, though (based on Kelli & Rachel’s comments): this is in no way intended to be limited to big life events… sometimes the simplest stories are the most beautiful ones!

Evan - I hate to sound redundant, but this sounds awesome. If ever there was a photographer who could capture beauty in both pictures AND words, it would certainly be you. Looking forward to looking at/reading these.

Meg Berreth - What a wonderful idea! You write so well and take even better pictures! I am always happy to be a guinea pig for your pictures and words… not anything big happening aside from my blessed life…. we have to get a new car! i guess that won’t be something important to remember in the long run….. Lets get together soon.

Charlene - If I were closer I’d jump at the chance to be your guinea pig!

So yes, I think it’s an awesome idea. Such a value added service for your clients.

Your images are lovely and your writing is very evocative.

DOMINICA LADSON - Have you obtained enough guinea pigs or can I sign up?

annemie - @Charlene – I wish you WERE closer… that would be a lot of fun! @Meg & @Dominica: email me (you can use the contact form above) and we can discuss!

Angela - Are you still looking for folks?

amand - I can’t wait to see (or learn about) the finished product!

amanda - I clearly don’t know how to spell my own name. Dur!

Your Story, Illustrated (Part I)

I wanted to start the new year off by getting some of my thoughts about photography out in the world. The last several years have been an amazing journey for me, and the further I’ve come, the more thoroughly I’ve had the chance to consider and understand why the medium grips me the way that…
