We Made It! Barely!! | Cape Hatteras Photographer

For those of you who followed Hurricane Irene’s path o’ destruction, you know about Cape Hatteras, and how it was severed from the rest of the Outer Banks on August 28th when the hurricane destroyed a portion of Highway 12 – the one road that accesses the various towns that make up the Outer Banks….

The Secret to Gorgeous Letterpress… and a Discount!

As some of you know, earlier this summer my graphic designer (the super-lovely and talented Anna Thompson) helped me reinvent my logo and branding. I was tickled with the results, and celebrated straightaway with a brand new set of letterpress business cards and stationery. The day I went to pick them up, all I could…

Brandon Rector - Impressive. You’re either working on vacation, or using technology to make it appear as though your working on vacation. Bravo! Oh, and great pictures as always.

megapixie - Brandon – I’d take more credit, but I can’t really complain too much about writing while watching the waves and sipping a cocktail!

Molly - Beautiful – both the photos and the letterpress. What a fun subject!

Bert - What a fun posting. It is great to have such talented people in the Triangle (printer, photographer. Where is the graphics designer?).

Heather - Oh, it’s so wonderful to see Travis’ work and his beautiful machine featured online! If any brides are out there reading this, Travis made our wedding invitations and did such a gorgeous job. Like Annemie says here, his standards are exacting and his antique letterpress machine is magic. He’s a true pleasure to work with and always kept us in the loop as he processed our beautiful invitations. I recommend him wherever I go! Beautiful photos and a great tribute, Annemie. Cheers for Travis!

10 Reasons You Should Hire a Professional Wedding Photographer

Yesterday, I posted a sneak peek of a wedding I photographed this past weekend on Facebook. The bride’s dad posted the following response almost immediately: “Woooow! After seeing so many great images from others, I thought ‘What more could be done?’ You answered that nicely, these are stunning!” (Here’s that picture): That got me thinking….

Brandon Rector - I’m sold. You can photograph my wedding. Just don’t talk to Aimee about it.

Molly - Great post, Annemie – very informative. I’m sold!

Trevor Dean Photography - Awesome Awesome Awesome!!! Very well written! I’m sure you won’t mind, but I’ll definitely be sharing a link to your post on my FB page ;)

Joda - You are an extremely entertaining writer—not only with today’s informative, humourous post but with so many of your other postings over the year(s?). If other professional photographers (see comment above) don’t utilize this well written, sensible list of reasons, they are missing out on a true benefit to their profession.

AND your photos are wonderful. The first is my favourite. It speaks volumes.

As for personal stories, similar to the particular example you cited in reason #8, our photographer friend was very excited about the shots he captured at our wedding only to find that his new flash was not synced correctly with his camera and each and every one of his film exposures resulted in solid black (not “and white”) photos.

Thanks for this informative, entertaining and beautiful blog.

megapixie - Of course not… I’m glad you found it useful! Thanks for saying hi :)

megapixie - Molly: I’m glad it came off as informative… every word of it’s true, but I also don’t want anyone to think I’m browbeating!

Julie Cortens - Fantastic! You said it all and you said it so well! I too will be posting a link from my blog and facebook! Thank you!
